Well I just got done playing about 2 hours of the Resistance 2 beta and I have to say this game is an absolute blast to play online. I pretty much just did co-op for the two hours, different scenarios scattered across one level but even then it was awesome to have 5 or 6 teammates there with you, all of you dependant on one another. The regular solidiers depend on medics for health and special ops for ammo, special ops is excellent at taking out enemies from a distance, and medics not only heal you but fight against enemies. What I thought was cool was in some sitatuions two teammates have to push a button at the same time in order to open up certain doors, this means that if you don't work as a team you're going to get no where. However, there are other times where acting alone can help the team out. For example, I had 4 teammates distracting about 20-30 enemies and while the enemies were behind cover I flanked them, threw a few grenades on their heads and ta da no more enemies to deal with. I think in what was roughly a 20 minute match (before we all died) I had racked up about 147 kills and encountered two pretty fun boss fights. I also liked how the enemies weren't just pushovers but were quick, challenging and smart. Sometimes they'd start running after you and other times they'd camp behind huge turrets and make you go after them. The game does an excellent job of shaking things up and just constantly throwing enemies at you over and over and then shaking things up with a big boss fight or two. Visually the game is pretty impressive, not something that will rival Gears of War 2 or Killzone 2 but the water looks great, character models are well defined, and did I mention that the guns in this game rock? I mean you have a pistol that shoots explosive sticky rounds, a gatling gun that comes complete with a shield so you can mow down enemies with glee, and a gun that fires frickin saw blades at people! GAH! Love it.I usually don't like hyping games on here because of the consequences that can ensue but I think that this game might be flying under the radar in terms of how popular it might become. After playing the beta there's not a doubt in my mind about whether or not to get this game. The online mode easily rivals COD4 and in my opinion I think I enjoyed this quite a bit more. So there you go, I think this game should easily get an 8.0 and depending on the reviewer I think IGN gives it a 9.0-9.5 and GS an 8.5-9.0. Of course this is just going off the online portion...not sure if the single player campaign will be a large factor in the final score or not. Thoughts? Resistance 2 beta = Awesome
Im still waiting for my beta code from Play.com, can't wait! :DResistance 2 beta = Awesome

You can get it by preordering that game through Gamestop. At this point though it probably isn't worth it. I think the beta is only on for another couple of weeks, and when you get the beta that way it takes Gamestop 48 business hours (So weekends don't count) to email you the ''key'' code, then you have to take that code and go to the Resistance 2 site and plug it in, and after that it takes a few days for those people to send you the actual beta stuff.

It is 2.2GB so it'll take awhile to download (about 45 minutes) but it's definitely worth it.
After playing the beta im hyping R2 AAAE on GS. The 8 player co-op was fun and amazing and the 30 on 30 battles are epic. AAAE on GS 9.

I've played it for 30 mins now.I really like the menu options. Co-op has a RPG element of leveling up which is cool. Where each bullit landed on an enemy is one experience point.

Far Cry 2: Pc vs Console
What are the differences between console and PC versions of this game apart from PC can run at higher res and with more AA? Far Cry 2: Pc vs Console
Console version runs the game graphiclly at medium settings...and yes its been confirmed...I suppose the PC version will be getting mods as well. Far Cry 2: Pc vs Console
PC for mods. I mean c'mon... mods are the basis of all awesome pc gaming. lol enjoy vanilla consolites.
Better textures, better draw distance, better lighting etc.
A lot of the pics I have seen have been PC version running maxed out presumably. The console specific screenshots are a big disappointment and show only a very marginal improvement over the original game. Lots of really low res, flat textures with poor detailing. Frankly, the console version looks terrible.
lol why would anyone want farcry for the consoles. it was made for the PC (original farcry), and im hoping that the devs didnt just make a console version 1st, and then throw it on the PC.we all remember farcry instincts predator right? it felt like i was using a wireless controller with the battery dying every 2 seconds.

Can the Wii be a gamers only console?
Now before I start I must state exactly what I believe a gamer is. Your definition can differ, I don't care. I believe a gamer is somebody who plays video games on a regular basis for their enjoyment. They don't necessarily play JRPS or heavy turned-base strategy games, instead they just believe that gaming is a more important past-time than other activities. After saying that my question is simple, ''Can the Wii be a gamers only console?'' What that means is can the Wii solely satisfy a gamers wants in video games. Now of course this highly depends on the kinds of games that each individual gamer enjoys. That point aside, I believe that the average gamer's needs are not fulfilled by the Wii.*Note to all: I do not use pretty pictures to keep your attention, so keep reading*I believe that the Wii cannot provided the same satisfaction as a Xbox 360 or a PS3 on several levels. First being game selection, second being multiplayer, and third being features and hardware. This gen the Wii has been failing to provide its customers with the same type and quality of games. While PS3 and 360 owners are enjoying the latest versions of popular titles like Madden and Grand Theft Auto, Wii owners are left with ports from last gen as well as a handful of exclusives. Exclusives on the PS3 and 360 aside, their multiplatform libraries are still more robust and complete than that of the Wii. I am not talking in terms of number of AA and AAA games, rather the general number of quality titles that span all of the genres. For example on the PS3 and the 360 you have a load of action games ranging from first person shooters like Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield Bad Company to third person action games like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Assassins Creed. All of these games are great (8.0+) games that cover the action fan. The PS3 and 360 also have a host of RPGs such as Oblivion or the upcoming Fallout 3 as well as many of their own exclusives like Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, and the Folklore. We can also look at sports titles. While the Wii has the basics they are not nearly as complete or as deep as the sports titles on the PS3 and 360. Look at Madden for example. On the PS3 and 360 there is a very comprehensive version while the Wii gets a weaker experience.Sure the Wii does have a host of great AA games, but many of these are ports from last gen that many gamers have enjoyed already. Its number of exclusives cannot make up for the lack of the amazing multiplats like Bioshock, Burnout Paradise, or The Orange Box that are on both the PS3 and 360. Next the Wii really falls short with its online capabilities. Online is implemented very poorly into its games. Most games do not have much online features and games that do suffer from poor organization/implementation and voice chat. Super Smash Brothers Brawl is a prime example as the lack of voice comms really hampers the entire experience along with the lag in 4 player matches. The PS3 and 360 both feature extremely well built online modes that are very user friendly and well implemented into the console and the games. This makes playing online with friends much more enjoyable and easy for the more casual gamer as well as really brings out the life of games making that $60 investment worth every penny.Last the Wii really fails to deliver on a hardware perspective. Keeping up with the Jones's really applies to this situation. Sure graphics don't make the game, but nobody will deny that they can make an already great game even better. While gamers on the PS3 and 360 are enjoy HD graphics with new lighting techniques, advanced physics, incredible textures, and high polygon objects, Wii owners are stuck in last gen with graphics that bearly top that of the Xbox. In the end this is kind of important to gamers especially when fellow gamers get to enjoy graphical wonders like MGS4, Uncharted, and Gears of War. Along with lower graphics the Wii really fails in its multimedia. The console does not have DVD playback nor does it allow for storage of media onto the memory of the system. Gamers who are playing on the PS3 and 360 can play music (or stream it from their PC) during games or when they are not playing games. Gamers on the PS3 and 360 can also use their consoles to watch movies either from a disk format (Blu-Ray or DVD), stream or download from the internet, or off of external drives and PCs. Theses multimedia features really make the PS3 and 360 much more versatile than the Wii.The Wii itself is a great system for a very nice price. It is great for people who enjoy older Nintendo games or like a very simple pick-up-and-play style of gaming. Even with this, I do not believe that the Wii can be a gamers only console, for the reasons stated above, and that is why I believe that Nintendo has really dropped the ball this generation. Can the Wii be a gamers only console?
I don't think i can live with just one console this gen anyway. Can the Wii be a gamers only console?
nope. You have to have something else unless that is all you can afford.

First of all....crysis has a laggy netcode....you cannot shoot guns underwater, you cannot shoot while climbing a ladder, you think nanosuit fast running is fast...use ut3 speedfreak mutator, the maps arent very large, they look big but they have invisibile barriers you cant go past and if you do you die.The grenades explode when they contact a enemy in ut3....in crysis they do not plus you cant time them or launch 3 at the sametime like ut3. You cannot turn off the silly aim assist using the xbox360 controller, while ut3 has it defaulted to off and still looks controls better. unreal tournament 3 multiplayer owns cr ...
Well no duh, no one buys Crysis/warhead for the multiplayer.. Its the singleplayer.. And no one buys UT3 period. Unreal tournament fans will play the superior UT 2k4.. And other multiplayer fans will be playing TF2, CSS, Battle field, etc etc.unreal tournament 3 multiplayer owns cr ...
Woobabooba? (spelling)what about Doom3?
you can move faster on a consistent gamespeed than crysis in doom3.the hand grenades in doom3 explode on impact with the enemy plus you can time them like real hand grenades.Yea hand grenades after you pull the pin and pull off the handle it's got like a 5-10 second fuse delay untill it explodes. but you can time it just right and take people out.
Yea crysis is so next gen default number is 32 players and quake 2 was 64 players in 1997.Even though you can edit both games configuration files to support more players...funny quake's default number is higher and the game was released 10 years before it.
Grenades exploding on impact arent realistic....but the timed fuses is how a real grenade is a real life grenade has a timed fuse...and you can pull the handle off suicide urself in real life or throw it before it explodes lol.But the exploding on impact is a nice feature in a fps, plus doom3 is space age grenades. There's some things crysis does that are decent...but as a complete overall online fps quake/unreal and many fps i grew up with did do multiplayer better.

Far Cry 2 Editor sets a new standard for ...
not LBP.....while LBP does allow you to create your own objects and items, the FC2 editor allows endless possibilities as long as you're mildly creative. The FC2 team took the original editor from Far Cry Instincts and gave it one massive kick to give us (the gamers) something incredible to take full advantage of. Thus far, I've yet to see one single level done with the LBP editor that evens compares to these maps created with the FC2 editor. The nice thing is that both PS3 and 360 owners will be able to have this amazing editor at their disposal.
say what you will, but this is one VERY impressive editor for not requiring ANY programming knowledge one bit. Easy to use and offers endless options for online play as long as your imagination doesn't run dry. Far Cry 2 Editor sets a new standard for ...
scripting isn't needed for an online FPS while it is needed quite heavily in modern platformers. if the FC2 editor were to allow you to create single player levels, I'm sure scripting would easily be implimented.edit: the space given to the user in FC2 could easily be used to create massive single player levels so it's in the rhelm of possibility. Look at the first couple pics and look for any automobile. Now, picture a single character standing next to that and you can see just how huge the area is. Easily this is 4x as much space to build a level compared to FC: Instincts Preditor.
oh yes it is....scripting has done insane things for certain PC games in the past...just look at all of valve's games.and no, the Farcry 2 editor is multiplayer only...at least on the consoles.
what has scripting done for ONLINE portions of FPS's though. I didn't say it wasn't used in single player aspects, now did I?
Scripting online can be used to create new gameplay modes, as was frequently done in all Valve's games....and seeing as how gameplay wise Far cry 2's multiplayer is completly generic...thats something a lot of people are gonna be wishing for.

FC2 is about as generic as EVERY single FPS title this gen for MP so I'm simply curious as to what modes you claim require scripting when ONLINE MP is concerned.

Most people get paid when they try to sell something :/ You might wanna look into it...If you haven't gone current-gen yet--Xbo ...
It is, once you don't have a PC.
Ive had a 360 from day one, greatest gaming choice of my life.every gamer should have one imoim sure there will be many 360 sold this holiday due to the blockbuster titles (fable2, geas2, banjo) available
Erm, Wow...Lots of games.:lol:At first I thought they were offering ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' along with the bundle, I was about to puke up :(But at a closer glance I saw it was ''Sega Super Stars,'' so its all good :D
Most people get paid when they try to sell something :/ You might wanna look into it...
I'm not trying to sell anything. Just trying to help some make up their mind by showing what the Xbox 360 has to offer. :) Good day!
For the price, ABSOLUTELY.
All great examples of why the 360 will outsell the ps3 for the remainder of 08' As we move foreward however, I wonder how system wars will argue when its becoming painfully clear that there are becoming no discernable differences between consoles at all.
Don't forget... If you get the arcade version... You can get a 20GB HDD for $20.http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20081014-microsoft-undercuts-wii-value-with-20-xbox-360-hdd-promo.htmlBest value out there.
Those bundles would not get me to jump in to be honest.
It is, once you don't have a PC.
really what about the 360 exclusives?

The graphics of the 2 consoles are about on par with each other, and that doesn't look like it will change anytime soon. With the Xbox 360 coming in at a cheaper price, it'll definitely do well, because we've already seen that in the latest NPD's. Although, if Blu-ray is an absolute must, then I'd recommend PS3 over 360. For most gamers, that isn't the case, though. We shall see what the future holds. Wii will dominate all...:P

Shaun White Snowboarding?
Very few PS3 exclusive games now to choose the much more expensive PS3 console over a 360. Gotta agree for anyone buying a console the 360 is the best choice. Great price and the best libary of games.

and just incase anybody was wondering..portal will be up for download next week.GTA:san Andreas will also be heading to the xbox originals list sometime next week.
Those bundles would not get me to jump in to be honest.
The most inexpensive gaming system this gen with free games? Who cares if you don't like what they're giving you for free, you're getting the least expensive and most powerful console for its price.
Bragging about 360's price is like bragging about wii's sales.
