Should DLC/PC mods be taken into account ...

GTAIV gets payed DLC on the 360GTAIV gets FREE mods on PC plus huge MMO like onlineShould this be mentioned in any game and given a rating bonus in reviews? Should DLC/PC mods be taken into account ...
You can only review what on the disk. if it isn't there you can't take it into consideration.Should DLC/PC mods be taken into account ...
then they should do dual reviews...one for the game release and one for when the competitor releases...
Well if mods count, then it should be for losing points because its basically saying the original game wasn't enough to satisfy at launch. DLC is too varied so it'd be hard to judge or rate evenly.
Well if mods count, then it should be for losing points because its basically saying the original game wasn't enough to satisfy at launch.
Hmmm...Nope, that doesn't make sense.
You can only review what they give you, unless your willing to invest on giving reviewers time and money to review downloadable content then it will never be a part of the score.
When reviewing a gam, you are reviewing the ''fun'' value it gives to you. Mods are a definite part of that. If they are only available for buying a certain game, and are very fun, you have to put them together. I say make em' count. You're just a bitter consolite.

Well if mods count, then it should be for losing points because its basically saying the original game wasn't enough to satisfy at launch.
Hmmm...Nope, that doesn't make sense.
how doesn't it? If you need mods to enjoy the game, you're saying the original game wasn't enough..which is what i just said..
If review sites took into consideration third party content most pc games would probably get an extra 10% added on to most of them, lets be realistic alot of PC games get released 80% done and when reviewed they always lose marks based on bugs which are quickly patched, and then we have all the mods to 'enhance' gameplay. These would greatly increase scores. But as well you can't take it into consideration because not all get DLC especially if you have to pay (perks of the pc all free) so you have to review just the vanilla version.
Well if mods count, then it should be for losing points because its basically saying the original game wasn't enough to satisfy at launch. DLC is too varied so it'd be hard to judge or rate evenly.
that really makes no sence at all.
They aren't made by the original developers so why should they get graded [Positively/Negatively] for work they didn't do. Then Halo should get added points for shipping with a loose video editor considering how much machinima is out there. Look at the millions of possible combinations of bouts you can get with Forge, what if half of them are aweful, do you really want something most Halo 3 players won't even see to potentially defame the quality of the game that the developers originally made. It doesn't make sense for them to grade Halo 3 on something that most people that play Halo wont see. Using Halo as an example of course.
If you need mods to enjoy the game
Who said that? The vast majority of mods don't fix games, they simply add to games.
you're saying the original game wasn't enough
Not at all. You're saying, ''the original was fine, but it's even better with mods''. Listen, if mods were to be incorporated, then the original game would receive a base score, as in, the score the game would receive without any modifications. Then, they would include the mods, and add to the base score depending on how much they improved the game. In no circumstance would having the ability to mod the game detract from your experience, and as such, shouldn't detract from the score. Thus, your statement that mods should only detract from a game's score, makes no sense. Q.E.D.

there is 2 thing game spot should have mod of th monthindie game of the month or Indepenant game dev of the month Maybe even mods reviews I know pc gamer does
You can only review what on the disk. if it isn't there you can't take it into consideration.
This.
If it's not in the game at the time of release, then it shouldn't be included in a review. End of story.

You can only review what on the disk. if it isn't there you can't take it into consideration.
This.
doesn't mean game spot can't do it seperate. how about mmo's that get up dates?

They're reviewed based on how they are at the time the retail version is released. PC games and games with DLC shouldn't get special treatment here.
