Is it safe to assume the PS3 is going to ...

what do you think SONY should do in order to beat Microsoft in sales this gen?Is it safe to assume the PS3 is going to ...
It is growing more %26 more likely, but it is not safe to assume. The 360 is not likely to drop in price again before next holiday... Sony will probably drop the price around the time of KZ2 or GOWIII (assuming it arrives before or around the summer). The PS3 doesn't need a price cut to $200... a $300 sku, along with their strong lineup for next year, would see it regain the momentum for 2009. Maybe even another $50 off in time for holiday 09. Just no way to tell if it'll be too little too late though. A lot depends on how 360 sales do AFTER the holiday, when they usually flat line. Is it safe to assume the PS3 is going to ...
it depends on if they can cut their manufacturing costs and release a cheaper system
what they should do? well last year i would've answered that question by saying they should try to keep some games that were famous on the PS brand exclusive...now i really dont know anymore.
AS much as Sony would like to sell more they are not as worried about that. Blu-Ray did better then HD so they are happy with the results and that is their main goal this gen. If they were worried about the PS3 they would have fought more for esxclusive rights, had a cheaper console and so on.
Unless Sony can introduce a PS3 sku that's the same or lower price than the competition, then yes it's safe to assume the PS3 is going to end up last this gen.
what do you think SONY should do in order to beat Microsoft in sales this gen?
$299 This number is your only hope Sony. It is your friend.

Its likely but I think the PS3 still has some spunk left in it. If anything it is going to be a close 3rd.
what do you think SONY should do in order to beat Microsoft in sales this gen?
I think Sony has lost this generation. But so what, there's always next generation. This gen is Nintendo's turn, next will be MS turn, then Sony again.. or some random order but it's unlikely for one company to reign forever.
according to the latest sale results i readactually PS3 is the highest selling console in PAL regions . Xbox has the market corned in America. And the Wii is taking Australia by storm (where i live. but i have a PS3 :P)
when they release Ps3 at a price that is reasonable for a game console it will sky rocket. Until then, it will remain consistant as it is now.
Yup Its Nailed in third place n_n
yep its going to be third this gen but it is still my fav. console and will always be for this gen.

Next gen perhaps, that's like eight years away!
2012 is the next gen era.(purely an estimated guess)
The way things are going at the moment I would say yeah it's safe to assume that. If Sony want to beat MS I think a generous price drop could do wonders for them, and some more marketing aswell. IMO they have the game department sorted, only problem is the Playstation brand as alot of people knew it is no longer.
It's destined to be last. The race is over once Microsoft or Sony releases their next console, so the race is over and there is no way PS3 can catch 360 (Unless Sony lowers the price to $150....which isnt' going to happen).
what do you think SONY should do in order to beat Microsoft in sales this gen?
just give a price cut.The moment they do that Sony beats MS easy. The only thing holding PS3 back is the fact it's the most expensive 2 year old console in the history of gaming. When a rivial console pretty much has all the software that you do..........at half the price, is it really a shock that X360 is doing that much better? Sony is going to look at the sales worldwide in Oct and I bet you get a price cut in Nov. The fact they have been outsold in JAPAN of all places (that is just pathetic) leads me to believe they are going to do a price cut this year. They thought they would wait until early next year....not the case anymore. Bad economy = you need to have the right price.
blu-ray completely disagrees with you TC.
blu-ray completely disagrees with you TC.
Naw. Blu-ray can only go so far. I agree with the price cut. It needs to happen for Sony to have a chance of beating MS this year.
