Hello I just got it yesterday!generally its a very good game. you probly know the story by now, but i'll tell you its really interesting. The only problem with the story would be, that the main charater could be a robot, he never interacts with the other charaters. Also game play wise it's pretty simple. You shoot monster's arms off, they won't really come from behind unless you're looking in the wrong direction. Usually the monsters run straight at you yelling. The game is kind of short and easy. I mean, if you're even a half-way respectably skilled gamer I would rent the game. As far as the scares go, they are too far and few between. You'll occasionaly get jumped out of nowhere, but most of the time you can see the enemies coming.
Yes on both counts. It's a fantastic game, and well worth it as a pure single-player experience. And you'll frequently be attacked from somewhere you weren't even looking. The camera is tight on your character, to make this even more likely.

[/QUOTE]That isn't completely true...For most of the game he has no reactions... However, in Chapter 12(final Chapter), things get more personal for him, and YES you do see some reactions from him in his animation. Anyway, they didn't really go for a monster closet type of scare... The scares are from the buildup of tension and then things happening when you don't really expect. It isn't them popping out to scare you, just you getting rushed all at once after like 2 minutes of quiet and tension... Normally that come from where you aren't looking, but sound cues prompt you to look around before you actually get hit. There are a few times where they come from behind, but most of them time it is from in front or from all around. The best parts are the zero-g sequences. The final boss is also really good. And ''Boo!'' Anyone who beat the game knows what I am talking about. But anyone who hasn't won't have any clue until it is too late. PS - If this game doesn't win the Best Sound award in the GotY awards... Well... It will be a major mistake on Gamespot's part.
well I'm on chapter 6 and he hasn't said a word, and there isn't really ''tension'' you see a necro moph every 20 seconds

its worth a rent
Definatly worth a rent, and if your a survival Horror fan it is a must buy. it does TPS without totally ditching the survival Horror aspect of the game, and if you play on the harder difficulties you find yourself rather spars for ammo at money moment or without proper ammo for the gun you want to be using for that particular type of foe.Overall it isn't the best game out there, but it gives some good old fashions chills and thrills, the whole story behind it is very creepy if you actually look into it and search around the areas you are.
