So I preordered my Gears 2 copy yesterday and I had to re-buy the first one. But when I purchased the first one it had a bonus disc of Gear 2 stuff. And it had a section on the unreal engine. In Gears 2 the environment will be destructible. Water will be realistic and reflections can be seen! Guys I'm tellin you this game is gonna be awesome!...Unreal engine improving!...
destructible environments , and water being realistic have been done in many games :S
Not in Gears 1 though! It had a lot of shadow to it! Not this one, character models are more detailed and have light on them more than shadows! The environment will be way more interactive in Gears 2 it sounded and looked like!

IT sure did... (and that was on the ps2)
IM frankly surprised not all or most games , even gears dont or didnt have destructable environments.
Improving?More like catching up.
catching up to what? Gears 1 did just fine in the reviews. So improving on its already excellent production values is catching up how?

|Well I didn't see this on the announcement of the game. All I know is what they showed on the video it's going to still be a shoot'em up game but with more depth with detail which I think is awesome. The showed the hundreds and hundreds of character models it's not just 10 or 8 locust they have spots in the game of hundreds of them now.

If you dropped Red Factions way of doing destructible environments into Gears, you'd simply ruin the game. And also, if you noticed, Red Faction wasn't exactly one of the better looking games of its day.

I wasnt saying becoz it had that , that it was a steller seller... -.-
I was just saying that an EARLY 6th gen game had it.. its disappointing with the systems this gen that they dont implement it.

Improving?More like catching up.
catching up to what? Gears 1 did just fine in the reviews. Unreal has shown it's age now and destructible environments have been around for a while now.CoH was a greater achievement technically than Gears and that's an RTS.

I was just saying that an EARLY 6th gen game had it.. its disappointing with the systems this gen that they dont implement it.
Like I said in a previous post, just dropping an effect into a game for the sake of adding an extra feature is one of the worst design decisions a developer can make. Red Faction used simple levels and the [then] novel idea of blowing holes into walls/chunks of dirt as a primary gameplay mechanic. Some features need to be refined considerably, to the point where there are generally diminishing returns when implementing the final result into a game, and thus these novelties are not high on the priority list. Being that Epic has added their refined version of destruction deformity into their engine, it makes the diminishing returns slightly less intensive.
Whoop de ****ing do.Stuff that has been done to death in games, who cares.Id be more concerend about Gears 2 pacing and design than little technical improments.
Why is everyone so upset that Gears is improved from the first one:| It will be an awesome game and I do agree that the frame rate should be better but from what the video showed there wont be any problems there either;)
This has been known and destructable environments wont be in the game
this is very, very old news.
